This may sound a bit crazy but I am thinking about giving up knitting and turning to sewing. I used to sew, even made my own clothes for a bit there but I have not tangled with my machine in YEARS. But I came across these photos in the French Marie Claire Idees and I just may make the leap. I think I have to give up one hobby to begin another simply because after all these years of putting up with myself I may finally understand what makes me tick. I have had this need for a new creative endeavor that has been tingling around in me for a couple months. Some of my options (as I see them) are really to become a fabulous cook. I think I am a pretty decent cook ( great baker) and after having to make the leap into gluten-free land maybe I could embrace the things I didn't usually try before-you know crepes at home etc. OR I could keep it all somewhat related to furthering my career and start selling some of my illustration as prints on ETSY.com after all I love to see what all the other creatifs do-why not open a little shop of my own? And then there is sewing, I used to be a certified fabric fiend and had to come to terms with the fact that I was not actually sewing anymore!! I think this is where I am with knitting, I have beautiful Lopi Yarn for a complete COAT with a cool pattern book (see above) from Lopi and I found myself eyeing one almost like it in a catalog the other day. I may not be the big project girl that I thought I was! (you may see this for sale on ebay soon-ha!-the yarn is chocolate if anybody is dying to knit this...oh by the way I knit that hat and it turned out GREAT!) This may be a good thing. My freelance work is keeping me really busy-I just need an outlet. So...the practical side of my brain says all the fancy cooking could make a girl that works in her studio all day rather chubby. And I have NO idea where I would set up my sewing machine in here so does that leave painting for painting sake-girly things and selling them on Etsy? Maybe I should buy a sewing book first before I decide hee-hee.
