I just got off the phone with a girlfreind, Lisa, who is planning to start her own creative business. She is in the "discovery" process. This is one of my favorite topics. In fact, I have been meaning to feature a few more women that I wanted to add to my interviews onthe inpsiration page of my website. Yikes! I need to contact them. I, like Lisa, am so empowered and thrilled for women who have begun creative endeavors, businesses. I am currently working with 2 women who are starting their own greeting card company. I have had so much fun designing for them. I will post more when they launch. I am also designing digital scrapbook pages for another woman starting her own online "digiscrap" company. I am drawn to these projects because these women are so enthusiastic about their companies. Naturally, it is fun for me because they will feature my art (shameless plugging will commence when they launch.)

But as I talked to Lisa, I know she will find her way and have success because she, like me, really believes that there is room for everyone. I love to suuport the women who create products at home when thier kids are sleeping and they feature their work on esty.com or through their blogs. I actually hope that as a culutre our shopping habits will morph back into more small mom and pop gift shops and we will see less large discounted giftware chains. Until then-support your local artist and keep creating!
