Here is the other direction that I have been heading in for some time, it is more design based, of course. I haven't figured out completely how to take this style and have it "tell a story". These are some stationery flats but I feel it is very different in feel and style than my children's art. I guess what I am in a quandary about is, should I keep pursuing children's art? My theory has been if you want to make a "living" you have to have your fingers in a lot of pies creatively. Suddenly I am not so sure. Maybe it is the too many hats idea. Maybe that makes you weak and not really great at one genre. On the other hand, that can be total BS because I see artists cross markets all the time. I think dedicated children's artists don't care for that but "it happens". I keep asking myself what "type" of art do I really want to create? Hard question, I love illustration is all it's forms. I pick up a children's book and devour it. I love romance book covers, I love stationery and gift products. See the list goes on...
What I have been doing is waking up and working on what style I am in the mood to do but I don't think this is the best course action long term. Hmmmm, do all artists have these dilemmas?
