I signed up for a scrapbooking class this week. There is a good scrap store in my town and I guess there was a big scrapbooking convention in Boston (who knew?) so a scrapbooking designer
Emily Falconbridge had been flown in for the show and the store got her to teach some classes during their visit. She was absolutely lovely!I had to admit I was a bit nervous, I am not a scrapbooker-I love to design papers, stamps, stickers but I don't feel I have the time to jump into this hobby. Truthfully, knitting is the first "hobby" I have ever had. I have always created art so I have never felt I had the time for hobbies and since art had been squeezed into spare hours for so long actually taking up knitting to relax was a big step for me.
This is one of those drawbacks from working for home, you always feel as if you should be working on your art. I only took up knitting because I was traveling to Europe a lot and had downtime on buses and airplanes. ANYWAY...The class was truly a joy. And I finished the project within the two hour length of the class (can't do that when you knit). One of the reasons I wanted to take the class was to get used to more tools that scrapbookers are using. What I realized is there are a lot of tools out there but you really only need a sharp exacto knife and some imagination. This class was a "travel journal" class, right up my alley, right!? One thing that frustrated my off the bat was that our families pictures are all over my hard drive and terribly disorganized! I immediately called Tom and fussed at him (easy target, I know) good thing he has a sense of humor. So I am purchasing a new camera asap! Somehow I think this will organize me. A lot of the scrappers told me they actually find Walmart's photo processing very easy and user friendly. That would involve leaving the house, so I will try SnapFish again.
I also decided I will take more classes. I came in-all sorts of papers and supplies were laid out for me to use and I came home with an entire book! Does that make me a "Lazy Scrapper"?
So now I am The Lazy Knitter and the Lazy Scrapper maybe I should title my book,
The Lazy Crafter. I could go around teaching classes and be charming and funny like Emily and teach women who are basically to lazy to craft. You know, just to clarify, it's not like I am LAZZZZY, just busy. Busy and creative, I believe there is time in our schedules to create
and add something original to our daily lives.
