My mom just sent a care package to me with some old photos in it. Oddly, we don't have a lot of baby photos of me. My parents were living in Italy when I was born and "slides" were the big thing. So I was happy to find this old photo of me with my sister and cousins in the box. I am the topless bathing beauty in the middle. I was the smallest, the baby. My sister emailed me this morning to report on my niece after her visit to New England. Since we were having low key visit...I thought I would teach Renee how to knit. She caught on so quickly! I couldn't believe it. She learned how to cast on and off increase, decrease and purl in the matter of a day. She completed a scarf while she was here! (Just what she needs for Arizona!) I took her to my LYS and loaded her up with a good book, Kids Knitting...I thought the directions were clear and projects were fun. I guess she has already made a cell phone case for herself and is making belts. If anyone knows of any knit shops in Phoenix, Glendale area. Let me know! I will point her in the right direction. Maybe I think she needs the crutch of a local place because I clearly do. Last night at my knitting class, I was thinking everyone really was knitting challenging projects and I was busy wondering if I could remember how to pick up stitches to attach the turtleneck portion of this top (above). That's it, I thought with resovle! This year I am learning to cable, intarsia...really!!! right after I learn how to ssk. Maybe I should stick to the baby pool.
