Today I am addressing my Christmas cards. I have very definite opinions about Christmas cards...Remember I used to own a greeting card company. Every year I take great care picking out a beautiful or funny card to send to my friends and loved ones. And with each passing year, I get more and more photographs-with the names printed on them. First names, not even last names. I don't mean to get nit-picky but I am in a blended family situation and I just don't recognize little Sarah. Especially when she doesn't come with a return address! I am so bummed that no one seems to be sending CARDS anymore. Don't get me wrong, I love the photos but I want to see a picture of YOU too! After all, YOU were my friend, not just your child. Did I say all this last year? I may have. Nowadays you rarely get something personal in your mailbox. It is so great to open an envelope and there is a nice anticipation opening a card to see who sent it, to see how pretty the card actually is. Doesn't anyone else get that? I don't mind the family letter inside,I actually read them! If all I get is a photo with your child or PET on it without even your signature, what joys am I sharing with you? Am I being a scrooge? I don't mean to be...This is one of those rituals that seems tedious when you are doing all the envelope stuffing but it is so nice when you go to the mail box and it is full of cards! My little blended family didn't not get their act together in time to have a nice photo to send so in a tongue and cheek response to all the "photo" senders, I bought a PHOTOCARD (one the opens) and I drew our family portrait! This is US! My sweet family. I bet I am preaching to the choir-my creative bloggers probably send out beautiful cards.
