So I have been thinking recently, actually while I was hanging out at a café in Manchester England last weekend, that I want to get back to one of the main reasons I started to blog. It began for me as an attempt to stay focused on producing and marketing my art. I realized that there is quite a community of creative men and women out there and everyone is looking for a little inspiration, often a little direction a way for their art and ideas to fit in the world.
For quite some time I have kept journals and notes of words of inspiration from other artists, freelancers, just success stories. I have always loved stories that describe the process of how they began creating or when they made their first big sale. So I thought I would post some of my notes down onto my blog once a week. (I will try to give credits where I have kept good notes).
Here are some of my recent favorites, the first two come from a young female movie director and a screenwriter (see wise words can come from anywhere!)
*Don’t have a plan B, because you’ll live plan B. Go for plan A, even if it means using some of your resources. If you do what you love, you’ll find pleasure and a paycheck. - Jessica Bindinger
*Don’t focus on things standing in your way. If you focus on your end goal, it is amazing on how fast you will accomplish it. -Patty Jenkins
And for the studio..
*Draw everyday. Create your own deadlines. You will need a body of work to get that first paying gig.
*Get your own space even if it is a corner of a room or a closet, a place that you can leave your work out so you can enter you creative zone easily.
*Think about what you would like to see your work on, or what you would like to create. How would someone buy it? Is it sold to the public or to an art director? Once you can answer this question, begin doing your homework on how you will get it to that point.
