Here is an illustration Friday-Reflection, I was playing around with greeting card ideas and I was using some of the ideas from my past life with my greeting card company of "yesteryear". I am a huge fan of birthday cards and birthdays in general. I think it's great to stop and let some on their birthday (or any day for that matter) to know that "the world is a brighter place because your here..." Here is my real reflection this week; My son has the sweet habit of saying "you're the best, Mom" as if it were some sort of mantra. I say it is a habit because I noticed him telling his school librarian the same thing. I guess because I had heard it so much I was taking it for granted, as I was tucking him in one night he said again, "You're the best, Mom". I had had a trying day and shrugged it off with a grunt and as I was about to turn out the light, he added quietly, "You believe me, don't you?". There is something about a child trying to convince you that you are special, that you have intrinsic value to the world, his world, that can really humble you. I replied, "If you say it, I believe it." And for a beautiful moment, I let myself off the hook for everything I had not accomplished or done right that day! I am trying to get this message into my soul that this is God's view of me, valued, His workmanship, the "best" I don't know why it is a message that had not penetrated my tough skin. I stumble with God's view of me and remaining humble. I will get there. Good thing my little boy gets it.
