You never know how addicted you are to the internet until you don’t have it for a couple days. It was a working weekend for us at our house and I am restless for a day of play. It is not as fun to “plan” play. You know if play is spontaneous it seems more decadent. How nice to be a child where you don’t even categorize play and work. You don’t think-“Hmmm, should I take Friday off and play?” Some kids are actually encouraged to play! I remembered being told to “Go out and play!” Maybe it was the “go out” part my mom was more focused on as in- get out of my hair…fortunately, I spent my grade school years living in Hawaii, so being sent outside was pretty incredible. I hope I appreciated it, I certainly have fond memories of it. I spent countless hours hanging from trees, picking flowers and making leis, running through the sprinkler in the yard. We would even snack on the bananas from the trees next door. Yeah, I am pretty sure I appreciated it. I think I will go out and play today, even if it is for a couple of sunny hours!
