Just back from the Licensing Show in NYC! What a busy place! Teaming Pond (my agent’s) booth was great and she was getting some nice traffic! Every time Tom and I left the booth to walk the show, someone came in and inquired about my art ! ha! So it was probably good we were there just one day. There was everything you could possibly license there and my art was small compared to all Sponge bob and other movie characters so I was surprised people could even notice my art and stop in the booth to ask. I am not being negative by any means, I guess I am saying-thanks for your prayers-they are working! Tom enjoyed himself, Paulie’s bike from Orange County Chopper was there and we got photos with it, he was like a kid in a candy store. (Rumor has it Tom is entering us in some contest to be on an episode of the show, too funny!) Then it was my turn to get excited because I met Holly Hobbie!!! That’s right, the real thing-if you haven’t seen her new children’s books the Toot and Puddle series, and you simply must read them. I was awestruck as you can see by the goofy look on my face when Tom snapped this shot below! I think she is coming out with a new show on Nickelodeon. I ran into some children’s artists that had a booth Janie Bynum and Meredith Johnson, Katie Davis and Erin Eitter Kono the formed a group Giggleberry to show at this event together. I think all the children’s illustrator gals and the bomb and their talent is incredible! I think it can be a tricky cross over portfolio but it can be done. I think my new art does not look anything like my children’s art- and you can see in my portfolio but a lot the inquiries yesterday were in the form of art for children…interesting. I think I will just contemplate my navel this morning before I pick up Luke from his last day of school today, I can’t wait to tell him of the new Bionicles I saw at the Licensing Show, I feel like such a Mom “in-the-know”!
