Discipline...I hate that word. I was raised by a military father who never necessarily enforced it-it was my MOM-she ran a tight ship. I would much prefer the softer "time management" phrase. Not managing my time effectively sounds not nearly as bad as I am just not disciplined. You see I am a bit-just a wee tiny bit-in my own personal way- an over achiever. My bed is made but the closets are a mess...That sort of thing. My Christmas cards are done-house decorated-all holiday packages where mailed today-hooray! Now to sit back and enjoy the holidays-yeah right! In my mind I now have a window of time that means I could make sugar cookies with the boys...Take my mother-in-law Christmas shopping... It doesn't stop. I was in the bookstore and saw a title of a book " Being a Mary in a World Full of Marthas". It kind of spoke to me. If you don't remember your bible lessons, Martha was a follower of Jesus' who was running around preparing a feast for him and getting mad at her sister for sitting at the feet of Jesus to just enjoy and listen him. It is definitely a season for Marthas-I think I need a timeout to be a Mary.
