I was just snuggled up in my studio with my favorite magazine Home Companion when Tom called and said I was Netfirms site of the week. Traffic! I love traffic!
This call promted me to push my witch costume lower dowm onto my blog, yikes! As I was reading there was an article featuring Margo Tantau who is passionate about finding artists who bring their very unique talents to the retail market. I loved the feature. It had many great artists that I have gone to great lengths to find, like Christy Silacci. I thought I would pass her words of wisdom along-especially to those of you participating in Loobylu's "A Month of Softies". Oh , how I wish I had the time... Anyway here is the advice: * You can mass produce your work and still keep it one-of-a-kind. Repeat the principal elements (for instance, a wooden box with red paint) from piece to piece, but vary a single feature, like a handpainted saying or a snippet of vintage fabric. I am a complete and absolute beliver in cottage industries! Last year about this time I started making all sorts of collage pieces for a new shop Tracy Lane. As I was producing them I tried to work out in mybrain some continuity to each piece. I love ribbon and that seemed to repeat itself in the work. So I loved her advice. I have some digital photos tha I took before they went off to be sold-awful photos but I will post them-here are a few. Now take her wisdom and get busy!!
